Bearing Fruit that will Last
Lakeside Presbyterian Church longs to be a vital expression of the love of Jesus Christ in the world. As we have discerned what this means for our congregation the follow has emerges as directives for us to follow.

We Desire to be:
a. Inviting to those who wish to deepen and enrich their faith in God, and to engage in an authentic Christian journey and fellowship.
b. Rooted in the teachings of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and firmly supported by the reformed Presbyterian traditions and the scriptures of the Old and New Testaments. c. Welcoming to the diversity present in the neighborhoods of San Francisco and its Bay Area communities. d. Intentional and active in its pursuit of outgoing, hands-on community missions, its national and its worldwide mission opportunities. e. Connected to the broader world of church life available through the San Francisco Presbytery, the Synod of the Pacific family of churches and the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church (USA), and open to other Christian denominations and even non-Christian people sincerely yearning to serve God.
Therefore we will focus on the following areas to meet the vision God has placed on our hearts.
1. Spiritual Development through Study and Worship: Conventional bible study is the rock on which all Christian understanding is founded, but it alone is just the beginning of a deeper appreciation of how each of us fits into life as a Christian. We encourage all of the members of our congregation to embark on more focused studies and evaluations of their spiritual journey in life.
2. Mission Development: We have significantly increased our mission activity (local, national and international, and in terms of money, projects and hands-on activities) in the past several years. As we would hope and even expect, this has led to even more desire for personal involvement in mission work, at all levels and by all members.
3. Welcoming: This extends beyond the present format of greeters that provides bulletins and name tags to congregants as they enter the church for worship. We encourage individuals to welcome newcomers (and more regular visitors) in their neighborhoods and our church family.
4. Modern Communications System: We reach out to the world around us. We communicate with email, web site, video and pod-casts, blogs, and online church calendar, as well as through our printed Sunday program and bulletin, and monthly edition of the Lantern. We keep up with the latest advances in technology and provide easy access to the church office.
5. Institutionalizing Long Range Planning. New membership should be recruited and become active in on-going review and development of ideas.
