General Wedding Information

Officiating Minister

The Pastor of Lakeside Presbyterian Church, Rev. Dr. Kim L. Nel-son, is available to officiate at your wedding. An outside ordained minister from a Reformed denomination may officiate or assist Lake-side’s pastor only upon approval from Dr. Nelson.

Pre-marital Counseling

Pre-marital counseling is an integral part of the preparation for your wedding. A minimum of three 1-hour counseling sessions will be provided by our Pastor and must be completed prior to your wedding day. Counseling by another qualified person is subject to the approval of Lakeside’s pastor.

Wedding Coordinator

Upon booking your wedding at Lakeside, you will be assigned a wedding coordinator to help guide you through the process of having a wed-ding at Lakeside. The coordinator is responsible for making sure that all arrangements are finalized in a timely manner and in accordance with Lakeside’s policies and practices. Should you choose to hire an outside consultant, your consultant should be prepared to work with our coordinator to ensure a successful event.

Ceremony & Rehearsal

Your wedding day reservation with Lakeside is for a three hour time period. Typically, the first hour is used to prepare for your ceremony. The florist will decorate the ceremony space and your musicians may use this time to rehearse. The bride and her bridal party usually spend this time in our Fireside Room relaxing and preparing for the cere-mony. The second hour is the time for your cere-mony. The last hour is mostly used for taking pic-ures and family time. This is only a guideline. Ultimately, you may decide how you would like to use your three hour time period. One hour is allotted for your ceremony rehearsal and it is usu-ally scheduled to occur a day or two before the wedding.

Music

The Lakeside Director of Music can assist you in making your Sacred, Classical and/or Contemporary Christian musical selections for your ceremony. Lakeside also has a list of recommended student and professional area musicians (fees are in addition to the staff fee.) Secular and recorded music is better suited for your reception. All wedding service music is to be ap-proved by the Lakeside Director of Music.

Decorations/ Flowers

The Sanctuary and Chapel are sacred space of an active Christian congregation and respect and appropriate use of our space is a requirement of all participants. Your wedding coordinator is a good resource for ideas about what works best in our church. If your wedding is scheduled during a month our church is celebrating a Holy Day, we ask that you do not move furniture, banners or any church decorations. Lakeside has several flower stands that you are welcome to use for no extra charge. Additional guidelines for decorating the facility will be provided by your wedding coordinator.

Photographs/Videotaping

Photographs and videos are a wonderful way to preserve the memories of your special day. Guidelines for your selected professional are available from your wedding coordinator.

Wedding License

You are responsible for obtaining your wedding license/certificate in person from any county in the State of California. The license must be given to your assigned Lakeside wedding coordinator at the time of your rehearsal. If you have been married in another location prior to your wedding ceremony at Lakeside, please advise us at the time you submit your application to Lakeside.
