| Bill and Judith in Bali |
Back home in San Francisco, Lakeside Presbyterian Church collects eyeglasses for transport to Bali so that they can be distributed to poor families. So far, more than 600 pairs of glasses have been distributed to families that otherwise would not be able to afford them.
Recently we delivered over 400 pounds of rice and other food items (dried peas and noodles) purchased from the gifts all of you made to the orphanage in Klung Klung / Semapura (old name / new name). See the photo of how the goods were delivered to our car. We then loaded up the car with it all plus soccer balls and shirts from the Rotary Club in Foster City and ball point pens from church and Rotary Fisherman's Wharf. This effort involved 7 Hindu and gave us an opportunity to show what Christians do. Off to the north to pickup Pastor David and then the orphanage.
We unloaded our gift and visited with the children. They are such a kick and so friendly. They were very eager to try out everything. We also gave the director 100,000 rupish (about $10) to buy an air pump as the balls get deflated quickly from 187 sets of hands and feet using them. The food will be enough for 2 days. They will supplement it with fish from the community since it is close to the ocean. So once again you all made it possible for us to make a difference. Thank you for this opportunity to serve.
Keep in mind we also arrange mission trips to Bali so others can see first hand the impact of the mission and to help God's servants to discern what part they can play in mission beyond our shores.
